Ernest Richard Smith was murdered in 1999 when he sexually assaulted a man named Roy Barnes. Barnes woke up and found ''Smith performing a sex act on him".

Note the name in this story: "Carolyn Contessa Smith". There is no information about any "Carolyn Smith" in Ancestry.com that matches this person.

Ernest Richard Smith's father was Walter Smith and his mother was Josephine Helen Smith. Their children are listed here, including Ernest himself. Note there's no child by the name of ''Edward Warren Smith'' or "Carolyn Smith" listed. Also note that the family is Catholic, which is unusual for African-Americans. We couldn't find any official records for an ''Edward Warren Smith'' that matches the description of the "victim''. He's also not listed in the Social Security Death Index (SSDI). However, Ernest Richard Smith is in the SSDI:

12 days before Jeff Dahmer's "trial", a class E felony charge against Ernest Richard Smith was dropped:

Ernest Richard Smith was facing a lengthy prison sentence:
